Maverley, W'House in relegation battle
Maverley-Hughenden and Waterhouse will clash in the Boulevard derby for the third time in the Red Stripe Premier League today, at Constant Spring Complex, starting at 3:30 p.m.
In the two previous encounters, Waterhouse won 2-1 and the other game ended in 1-1 draw. Both games were played at the Drewsland Stadium. Now, the teams meet again in the third and final preliminary stage.
Maverley-Hughenden are currently in the relegation zone on 24 points in eleventh position, just four adrift of eight placed Waterhouse (28). Waterhouse have been unbeaten in their last seven games, while Maverley has not won since late last year. Based on form, Waterhouse is given the nod to beat Maverley and move clear of relegation.
The Anthony Patrick-coached Maverley-Hughenden are on a goal drought, so players such as Phillip Peddie, Nicholas Scott and Rodico Wellington will have to come with their goal-boots in order to lift their team from the relegation zone.
On the other hand, Waterhouse will rely on top players such as Kemar Beckford, captain Romario Campbell, veteran Irvino English among others to continue dominance against their neighbours.
