Organiser of the annual Bell-Ziadie Memorial football extravaganza, Clive 'Busy' Campbell, said he will be approaching the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) to keep alive the legacy of the two former servants of the sport.

Campbell declared his intention while speaking at the launch of the event's 40th staging - which takes place on Heroes Day, Monday, October 20 - at its traditional home, Winchester Park, on the grounds of St George's College, the alma mater of the two local football legends, Winthorpe 'Jackie' Bell and Dennis Ziadie.

"This being the 40th year ... I am going to approach KSAFA, because you used to have a Jackie Bell Knockout for KSAFA. So I am going to find a way for us to have a Bell-Ziadie game for the entire KSAFA region, because they were national coaches and national players, and they deserve this honour," stated Campbell, himself a 'Georgian'.

Widow of the late Jackie Bell, Lorna Bell, praised the effort of Campbell in keeping the memory and legacy of the two stalwarts alive, 40 years after their passing.

"On behalf my family, I extend heartfelt thanks to Clive and his team for organising another memorial game. It has kept Jackie and Dennis' names alive through the sport they love most."

She also fully endorsed this year's list of honourees, which include former players Douglas 'Dougie' Bell, Andrew Price and Neville Granville; former FIFA referee Karl Tyrell; and Ronaldo Watson, the Jamaica Football Federation and Portmore United FC's equipment coordinator.

The teams competing on Heroes' Day will be Masters and Celebrities Invitational, Christian Ambassadors, St George's College Invitational and Referees.

Proceeds from the venture will be used to purchase laptops and printers for basic schools islandwide. However, there will be no charge at this year's event, but patrons will be asked to make a donation and will receive a ticket, from which gate prizes can be won, courtesy of the Bob and Rita Marley Foundation.
