England’s Rose set to unleash speed on rivals
LONG-time rivals, WOW WOW and ENGLAND'S ROSE, both returning off disappointing last runs, have tons to prove in Wednesday's overnight allowance at five furlongs straight.
WOW WOW sputtered home next-to-last in what should have been the biggest race of his career, the Jamaica Derby, after going down by a length to stablemate, NIPSTER, in the St Leger.
ENGLAND'S ROSE's Achilles' heel, matching speed, exposed her again when UNIVERSAL BOSS did a number on her, resulting in 10-1 chance DUKE turning the race on its head at six furlongs on November 29.
The handicaps trip and draw should suit ENGLAND'S ROSE at 11lb, breaking from stall eight, as opposed to WOW WOW, who will leave the one hole with topweight 126lb, sparingly trained.
Though reunited with Panamanian Ameth Robles, who won six consecutive races aboard him, the track bias is against WOW WOW whose preparation for a sprint is highly questionable.
Natural speedster
ENGLAND'S ROSE is a natural speedster, who was run off the headline in splits of 22.3, 33.2 45.0 and 57.1 by UNIVERSAL BOSS. However, she now gets a free-running course and is relatively light enough to destroy the field with her speed.
UNIVERSAL BOSS is back, gunning for another giant-killing act but might be too frequent at the races and is rather heavy, though enjoying the benefit of the track bias. After chasing ENGLAND'S ROSE off the lead on November 29, he returned two weeks later and was slowly into stride, outsped by SEA SWAN and MR UNIVERSE.
The race is set up nicely for ENGLAND'S ROSE. When relaxed on the lead, she will destroy just about any field. UNIVERSAL BOSS might have taken her off the bridle on last, but she should turn the tables at five furlongs straight.
If the top runners fail to fire, the outsiders include CAPTUREMYSHIP, who is eased in the scale and returns off a near six-week break. If he bounces back to form with rest and weight ease, he could be dangerous.
PRINCESS EMANUELLE could also be a danger to all. She has a great draw after finishing fast, at long odds, ahead of UNIVERSAL BOSS, ENGLAND'S ROSE and company.
