White grateful for recall to national team - ... as he replaces Taylor who contracts COVID 19
Cavalier goalkeeper Jaedine White received his first international call-up in more than a year after he replaced Dennis Taylor from Humble Lion, who contracted the coronavirus, in the Reggae Boyz squad to face Saudi Arabia.
However, the 20-year-old White, who fell out of favour after a brief move to Humble Lion last season, said he intend to make the most of the recall and give the coaches reasons why he should become a regular fixture in the squad again.
"It is always a joy and pleasure when you get the chance to represent your country," White told STAR Sports.
"Even though this happened suddenly and unexpectedly, I am really grateful for the chance I have gotten and I look forward to making the best possible use of the chance."
Make a good impression
The former St Andrew Technical High goalkeeper said it has been frustrating being on the outside, and although he is not certain to play in any of the two matches, he intends to make a good impression if given the opportunity.
"It has been frustrating not being in the team for so long but I am really pleased to be back.
"I am not sure if I will play in any of the two games but if I do get the chance I will relish the opportunity and give the coaches a reason to make me a regular selection again," he stated.
Taylor, who plays for Humble Lion in the Premier League, was tested on Friday before the team left the island. He received his result on Saturday.
He has been isolated in London and will not make the rest of the journey to Saudi Arabia.
Also missing the trip is Alvas Powell who is deemed a compromise after an Inter Miami teammate caught the virus. Powell was replaced by Tyreek Magee.
