KPH promised lifeline from Summa Sizzle

Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) is set to benefit from Beenie Man’s Summa Sizzle Music Festival 2026, set for August 15 at the Woodleigh Sports Complex in Clarendon.

Organisers say they will donate part proceeds to KPH to support priority needs and enhance healthcare services.

The partnership comes as the 250-year-old KPH works to resolve several operational challenges. In recent weeks, KPH battled a series of operational setbacks, including shortages of stationery and linen, aging infrastructure and the temporary loss of two operating theatres after failures in its central air-conditioning system forced elective surgeries to be postponed. The disruptions placed additional pressure on the island’s oldest public hospital, leaving many patients facing anxious waits while urgent repairs and other corrective measures were undertaken.

Acting CEO of the hospital, Dwayne Francis, welcomed the partnership with Beenie Man and the organisers of Summa Sizzle, describing it as an example of how entertainment and community support can contribute to healthcare.

“We are truly grateful to Beenie Man and the organisers of Summa Sizzle for selecting KPH as the beneficiary of this year’s festival,” Francis said.

He added: This generous partnership demonstrates the power of entertainment and community coming together to support healthcare. Every contribution will assist us in enhancing the care and services we provide to the thousands of patients who depend on KPH daily.”

The management of KPH encourages Jamaicans to support the event, knowing that their participation will not only provide an evening of world-class entertainment, but will also contribute to improving healthcare for countless patients.
