Arnett snap winless streak
Arnett Gardens FC snapped their three-game winless streak when they defeated defending champions Cavalier 3-0 yesterday at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex in the Wray and Nephew-sponsored Jamaica Premier League (JPL) action.
Rushike Kelson opened the scoring in the 44th minute, before late strikes from Fabian Reid and D'Sean Henry in the 79th and 84th minutes, respectively.
Arnett found their first of the night just before the half-time whistle with a counter-attacking play.
Rushane Thompson drove through the heart of midfield and played in Kelson, who slotted the ball between the legs of the goalkeeper.
Both teams traded blows throughout the encounter but it was the Junglists who came alive in the closing minutes.
Kelson turned provider for Arnett's second as his deftly weighed pass found veteran striker Reid who struck home, finding the bottom left corner.
Five minutes later, Arnett had their third, again capitalising on the counter-attack.
A charged down attempt from Cavalier's Dwayne Allen was the springboard for Kelson who picked up the ball, ran the full length of the field and laid the ball off to Ricardo Thomas.
Thomas then picked out Henry, who made no mistake from close range.
The win is Arnett's first at the recently reopened Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex and see them move to eighth in the league's standing with 16 points, level with Waterhouse and Molynes United, who sit ninth and 10th, respectively, on goal difference.
Cavalier remain fifth in the league's standings with 22 points.
