Unique Transformers top Street Xtream six-a-side

Unique Transformers defeated Street Xtream 2-0 to claim top spot in the second staging of the Travelr Taxi-sponsored Street Xtream six-a-side football tournament at Joga Bonito, Chewsdays, Portmore Pines, St Catherine.

Six teams vied for top spot. These included 876 Humble, Hoof Nation, Unique Transformers, Street Xtream Ja, The Elite Club Ja and 7th Gen Civic. Unique Transformers defeated Hoof Nation 1-0 to book their place in the final, while Street Xtream got the better of Stay Humble, last year's champions, 1-0 for their berth in the final.

Marlon 'Marlando Brando' Brown, leader of the Street Xtream team and the primary organiser of the event, said the competition was intense, as everyone came with the main objective of taking home the coveted trophy.

"The format of the game changed this year. Every team played each other at least once, for 10-minute intervals. The play-offs were very competitive, with each team unrelenting up to the final whistle," he said.

"We just want to congratulate everyone for participating, and all the sponsors that came on board for the second year. Next year will be even better," Brown said.

For their valiant efforts, Unique Transformers received $25,000 in store credit vouchers from KNS Auto Limited, the first-place trophy from Meliboo Unique Kloset, gold medals from Futuristic Lighting and gift bags, courtesy of Bert's Auto Parts.

Street Xtream, for their second-place finish, received $15,000 store credit vouchers from Ace Dynamics, the second-place trophy from Meliboo Unique Kloset, silver medals, courtesy of Samiz Creations, and gift prizes from Valvoline and Automotive Art.

Third-placed Hoof Nation received bronze medals, courtesy of Heelz n Wheelz Parts Ja, and gift prizes from Bert's Auto Parts.

Kashief Parry from Unique Transformers was the tournament's top goalscorer, while the clean sheet award went to Rolando Fowler, also from Unique Transformers. The best dressed team award went to Street Xtream, who received a trophy from OvaTime Driving School.

"It was an exciting tournament. I am elated that I am the leading goalscorer for the event. I was kept on my toes, and the other players did not ease up on me at all. I am just happy that I did my best," Parry said.

Other sponsors of the event included Mighty Brain Media, She Likes Cars Ja, L.A.J. Graffix, Jadd Enterprise, Easy Hardware Supplies, Rev Out Tuner Lifestyle, and Scully Detailing Services.
