She’s My Destiny in ominous form
SHE'S MY DESTINY has improved leaps and bounds as a four-year-old, mainly over middle distances, clocking an incredible 1:37.3 at a mile, with topweight 126lb, heading into the Mouttet Mile.
The non-believers sent off SHE'S MY DESTINY at 13-1 in the Mouttet Mile, which she disputed into the lane, straightening third behind MAHOGANY, alongside RUNAWAY ALGO, while ATOMICA skidded off the turn in fourth place.
Cut back to five and a half furlongs in Monday's Christopher Armond Sprint, SHE'S MY DESTINY locks horns with contrasting open-allowance sprinters, speedy GOD OF LOVE and run-on artiste DUKE.
GOD OF LOVE has risen nine pounds on the scale after his December 10 win against EAGLE ONE and DUKE at six furlongs. The weight swing makes GOD OF LOVE only three pounds lighter than DUKE, who had allowed him all of 12 lbs prior in a four-and-a-quarter length loss.
Whereas GOD OF LOVE was the lone speed last out, he now has SHE'S MY DESTINY to contend with, enjoying her best form ever. Omar Walker tends to have a knack for striking up partnerships with fillies, having ridden SHE'S MY DESTINY in her last two races, plus a second-place run behind ATOMICA in 1:10.4 at six furlongs.
In finishing second to ATOMICA with 120lb, SHE'S MY DESTINY clocked a solid 1:12.0, 1.2 seconds faster than GOD OF LOVE's 1:13.2 at the trip - albeit the track was running fast that afternoon.
Key to SHE'S MY DESTINY's new arsenal is her being able to relax before pouncing, a tactic she used to dismiss stablemate MAKEUPARTTIST when clocking 1:37.3, and also in the Mouttet Mile when she improved into second a furlong out behind MAHOGANY before EXCESSIVE FORCE came calling.
SHE'S MY DESTINY has worked brilliantly for the Chris Armond Sprint, five and a half furlongs in 1:06.1 last Monday morning, an ominous warning to GOD OF LOVE and DUKE.
