Eroy backed by track conditions

FORGET all about EROY's last run, drawn wide at post-position 10, going nine furlongs and 25 yards, in the mud two weeks ago.

Though he had used his speed to beat slow TOMOHAWK at the distance back in March, EROY, it appears, either doesn't fancy the mud or two-turn races, instead preferring the mile chute from where he beat St Leger winner, NIPSTER, followed by derby conqueror, KING ARTHUR.

The lightning-fast track will suit EROY for Saturday's United Racehorse Trainers Association Trophy, going seven and a half furlongs, even shorter than the mile, which seems to be his speciality.

Awesome at exercise

Returning with the tongue tie fitted, the son of Khozan, Florida's leading stallion in 2020, was awesome at exercise last Saturday morning, galloping five and a half furlongs in 1:05.0, a bullet work bettered by TOONA CILIATA's 1:04.3 on Monday.

Having beaten the best three-year-olds this season at a mile, EROY is in his comfort zone at 116lb with UNIVERSAL BOSS being the only matching speed to test him down the backstretch.

UNIVERSAL BOSS will enjoy the distance and pace, having trained well with 1:12.0 for six furlongs on Sunday. However, he is up against a talented foreigner, EROY, who has a similar running style but superior stamina.

LEGALITY has back class and will be the closing leg of an Anthony Nunes relay to tag EROY. However, having recently benefited from third-place DRUMMER BOY stumbling at the start, to get first run on a weakening MR UNIVERSE in a $1 million claiming race, catching EROY in full flight is more than two leagues above his head.
