Anglin shocked at selection for Saudi Arabia friendly
Harbour View central midfielder Jahshaun Anglin is still pinching himself to see if he's dreaming after he was one of five local players selected to make the trip to Saudi Arabia for the two-game series on November 14 and 17.
The 23-year-old made his international debut against Bermuda back in March but he wasn't expecting to be a part Theodore Whitmore's plans for the Saudi Arabia trip.
But he believes his recall is a result of the outstanding minutes he put into that game, and he is just itching to get his chance in Asia to showcase more of his abilities.
"I was surprise by the call because no football is being played. So I wasn't expecting it, so I feel glad within myself now," he told STAR Sports.
"I did good (against Bermuda). I got a few minutes and did what they (coaches) asked of me. I don't know how much time they plan to give me this time. But if I get the chance, I will go out there and do what I have to do.
"Because I want a team to see me and offer me a contract. So I just want to get a chance to show what I can do," he said.
The former Kingston Technical standout said his selection is a rare chance for him to show his family and community the result of all his hard work.
"It means a lot of things, as I am going to get a chance to show my ability. This also lets my mother, my community and family know that I am getting a nice opportunity because of all the hard work and training," he stated.
However, he believes that with the right work rate and application he can return from Saudi Arabia with his ambition for a contract realised.
"I just need to go and do the right thing. If I wasn't playing well (RSPL) I wouldn't have gotten call. So they saw something in me and call me.
"But I don't intend to stay at Harbour View too long. I just want to play for a short time and hope I can go away, because overseas is where I want to play, and this is a good opportunity. I just hope to get a chance to show what I can do," he insisted.
