Nuclear Affair on target for two-yearold stakes

Gary Subratie's filly, NUCLEAR AFFAIR, runner-up to DREAMLINER in October's Cash Pot Only One For Me Trophy, is back in training for the $4m Supreme Ventures Limited Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes after conspicuously missing last month's Pick-3 Super Challenge Trophy.

Subratie said the filly was preparing for the Pick-3 Super Challenge when she suffered a setback.

"She fell one morning and I decided to let the race go," he explained, adding that she is OK and on track for a crack at the third and final leg of the Supreme Ventures Limited Two-Year-Old Series on Boxing Day.

The chestnut filly has looked good in two recent gallops. Last week Wednesday, she strode six furlongs in 1:22.0 before stepping up the pace Sunday morning when she clocked 1:16.3 for the distance.

Staying on four-wide in the 1200-metre Cash Pot Trophy, NUCLEAR AFFAIR finished a length behind DREAMLINER in a bang-up finish for the minors, which included FUTURE KING and fourth-place SORRENTINO'S STAR, who returned to turn the tables on the colts in the 1400-metre Pick-3 Trophy.

All four were named among 17 entries released by Caymanas Track Limited for the Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes at a mile.

Though SORRENTINO'S STAR's manner of victory in the Pick-3 Super Challenge established her as the ante-post favourite for Boxing Day, Anthony Nunes' BIGDADDYKOOL won impressively at a mile against maidens on Saturday.

The far-striding colt reproduced his exercise workouts to close from off the pace under jockey Shane Ellis, romping a mile in 1:41.4 on his second outing.

Nunes' colt shares the same sire, Sorrentino, with SORRENTINO'S STAR and will definitely stay the distance though facing the leading two-year-olds for the first time.
