Police seize illegal firearms

The police took three illegal firearms off the streets this weekend, including one homemade gun.

In St Ann, one homemade firearm was seized by the St Ann's Bay police during a targeted raid in Chalky Hill, on Friday. Reports are that about 8:30 p.m., lawmen were in the area when a premise was searched and the firearm was seen in a dresser of the dwelling. No one was arrested in relation to this seizure. Two firearms were seized on Saturday. In the first incident, a team of officers assigned to the Kingston Central Police Division seized one firearm and seven rounds of ammunition during an operation on Chancery Lane, Kingston. Reports are that about 5:30 a.m., lawmen were in the area when a premise was searched and one Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol with a magazine containing the rounds was found in a room. No one was arrested in relation to the seizure.

Hours later, one Taurus 9mm pistol and two magazines containing thirteen 9mm cartridges were seized by the Kingston West police along Roach Lane in Kingston. Reports are that about 11:59 p.m., a team of officers conducted a snap raid in the area, when a premises was searched and the firearm and ammunition found. No one was arrested in connection with the find.
