Miss World Toni-Ann Singh heading to Popcaan's Unruly Fest
Miss World 2019,Toni-Ann Singh will be turning up at Unruly Fest, a major entertainment concert that will be staged at Goodyear Oval in Morant Bay, St Thomas this Saturday night.
The show is put on by superstar entertainer Popcaan, who, like Singh, is a resident of Bath in St Thomas.
Singh, who lives in the United States, is set to arrive on Friday as part of a homecoming celebration being organised by the Government of Jamaica. Culture Minister Olivia Grange says Singh, a gifted vocalist, will attend a cultural tribute at Emancipation Park that Saturday evening before heading to St Thomas.
She is expected to sing at the Emancipation Park event.
International acts Drake and Davido appear set to perform at this year’s staging of Popcaan’s Unruly Fest. Popcaan last year flew in Drake and Tory Lanez for the first staging of his show. The St Thomas artiste was announced as a member of the Canadian superstar’s OVO Sound record label at the show.
Singh, an aspiring medical doctor, is the fourth Miss World winner from Jamaica since the contest began in 1951 -- after Carole Joan Crawford in 1963, Cindy Breakspeare in 1976, and Lisa Hanna in 1993. Her vocal abilities were put on display when she won the talent fast track competition for her rendition of Whitney Houston's I Have Nothing.
Songbird Tessanne Chin is convinced that Miss Jamaica World Toni-Ann Singh can have a future in music.
Chin, who sung I Have Nothing on The Voice in 2013, which she won, said Singh's execution of the song was nothing short of amazing.
"Oh my gosh, I am so very proud of how she handled herself, carried herself, and how she was just a breath of fresh air. She was very much who she is, it seemed that way," Chin told THE STAR.
"She has such a beautiful voice and she sang it like a pro, so I think she certainly does have a future in music," the songbird added.
